Punching Bags

Train Harder, Hit Harder, and Find Your Perfect Punching Bag

When it comes to punching bags, heavy bags reign supreme as a fundamental training tool for combat sports, martial arts, and overall fitness. With their ability to withstand powerful strikes and provide a realistic target, heavy bags offer a wide array of benefits. In this article, we will delve deeper into heavy bags, highlighting their significance in developing power, conditioning, and refining technique.

Building Power and Strength

Heavy bags are specifically designed to handle intense strikes, making them ideal for developing raw power. The resistance offered by the bag allows fighters and athletes to deliver full-force punches, kicks, and elbows, translating to increased strength and explosiveness. The bag’s weight and density provide valuable resistance that engages the muscles of the arms, shoulders, chest, and core, leading to enhanced muscular endurance and overall power development.

Enhancing Cardiovascular Conditioning

Training with a heavy bag is a demanding cardiovascular exercise that pushes the limits of endurance. The combination of rapid, repetitive strikes and movement around the bag challenges the heart and lungs, leading to increased stamina and cardiovascular conditioning. Regular heavy bag workouts improve aerobic capacity, allowing athletes to sustain high-intensity efforts for longer durations.

Stress Relief and Mental Focus

The rhythmic and intense nature of heavy bag training offers a cathartic outlet for stress and pent-up energy. The focused and repetitive striking allows individuals to channel their emotions, providing a therapeutic release. Moreover, the mental focus required during heavy bag workouts helps improve concentration, discipline, and mental resilience. The combination of physical exertion and mental engagement fosters a sense of confidence, control, and mental clarity.

Hanging Bag

Jayefo Hanging Punching bag

The Jayefo hanging punching bag is the cheapest option, but that doesn’t mean that it’s bad. This can be filled with around 100lbs. When filling it I like to layer the inside with clothes, and I put the sand in big bags. I do this so there is an extra layer of padding in the bag, and it’s easier to get the sand out if its in bags. This is a great option for people who have enough room in their garage and can hang a punching bag.

The Fitven punching bag is fairly easy to setup and its a really good freestanding punching bag for the price. It has springs that help the bag come back faster and easier, and suction cups on the bottom to allow the base to stay on the ground without moving all over the place. I recommend filling it completely with sand after you have it where you want it so it doesnt move after that.
